The family of Matthew David Dorn has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in their hero’s final journey.  We are honored to fulfill this request.

Matt graduated from MIT in 1985 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.  He entered the United States Air Force on 13 September 1985 and was honorably discharged on 11 March 1995.  He served as an officer with the final rank of Captain.  His assignments ranged from experimental aircraft programs to maintenance officer on F16s.  He served in support of Desert Storm/Shield in aircraft maintenance and munitions.  He was the recipient of many awards and citations including: National Defense Medal, AF Commendation Medal, AF Achievement Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award, and Small Arms Marksman.

As a civilian, he worked as a consultant to school teachers, a vice president of consulting firm, a personal business coach, a pastoral mentor, and an interim pastor of Beachwood Congregational Church to name much of his work over the past 25 years.  Matt had an amazing gift of writing and synthesizing ideas but his heartbeat was for people and his faith in God.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Grace; son, Christopher; three grandchildren; and seven siblings.

“One straw at a time”

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.  Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
