The family of Jayjuan R. Crowder, 63, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his military honors as he makes his final journey. We are privileged to honor their request.
Jayjuan was an Air Force dependent who served on active duty in the United States Army from 1979 to 1985 . He enlisted in the Army after high school in Spain where his father, a career airman, was stationed. Our hero served in crypto communications in Germany for one tour at a Pershing Nuclear Missile Unit. His completed his honorable service in Columbus, Ohio.
Jayjuan suffered from the enduring effects of Covid-19 that ultimately resulted in severe heart trouble since 2020. He recently passed from a massive heart attack while traveling through Montana.
Following his service to America, he attended Ohio State University and was a lifelong Buckeye fan. He suffered from PTSD and his issues resulted in his being homeless for a while. He worked at many jobs (over 20), and fighting his PTSD demons made steady employment nearly impossible. He was able to help and mentor other veterans with their Veteran Affair needs, especially those veterans that shared his homelessness and PTSD issues.
Our hero is survived by his loving wife of 8½ years, Ronna. She and Jayjuan met 10 years ago while they were both in Long Beach. He also leaves behind one son, J. Michael Crowder, and two daughters, Jamie McCabe and Mariah Wolf. He is also survived by two grandchildren.
