The family of James Allen Greenough, “Doc,” have requested the Patriot Guards Riders be present for his military honors. It will be our honor to do so.
James Allen Greenough, 79, was born on 07 July 1944 to James and Hulda Greenough in Long Beach, CA. James passed away 23 April 2024. James was a good friend of “Monsoon.”
Shortly after graduating from Mayfair High School in Lakewood, CA, James joined the U. S. Navy where he went to basic hospital school in August 1965, then field medical service school in 1966. He was then sent to Vietnam where he served with two Marine rifle companies, G/2/26 5th Marine Division, as senior corpsman, and then again with 1st Battalion 4th Marine division. James saved many lives but he never spoke of the lives saved, only the ones that were lost. James was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with Valor. James served from 1965 to 1988 and was E5 at the time of his honorable discharge from active duty. He continued his service in the Navy Reserves on Special Boat Unit - 13. Not quite done yet, he joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department where he served for 36 years. His dedication to serving his Lord and community continued to the day of his passing.
James loved camping in the Kernville area and off-roading in his Jeep with family and friends. He loved trains and was restoring a WWII ambulance. He also became interested in astrology.
James is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Perez; son-in-law, John; two granddaughters, Arianna and Kayla. He is also survived by two brothers, Brian and Scott, and his sister Kristen, as well as and many, many friends.

We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
