PART 2

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to accompany Fireman First Class Everett Cecil Titterington, 20, of Milford, Iowa to his final resting place at Riverside National Cemetery.  It will our honor to accompany this repatriated WWII hero from the Greatest Generation.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced that Navy Fireman First Class (F1c) Everett C. Titterington, 21, of Milford, Iowa, killed during World War II, was accounted for on March 23, 2021.

On December 7, 1941, Titterington was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft.  The USS Oklahoma sustained multiple torpedo hits, which caused it to quickly capsize.  The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 429 Sailors, Marines, including F1c Titterington.

F1c Titterington’s name is recorded on the Walls of the Missing at the Punchbowl, along with the others who are missing from WWII.  A rosette will be placed next to his name to indicate he has been accounted for.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying this WWII hero from the funeral home to the cemetery, approximately 10 miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.  For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there
