Jose “Joey” Ramirez, 28, USMC/GWOT - Riv/RNC - 17 Tue
« on: December 13, 2024, 01:56:03 AM »
The family of Jose “Joey” Ramirez has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in their hero’s final journey.  We are honored to fulfill this request.

Our hero, age 28, served in the USMC from 12/15/2014 - 6/14/2019 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Seargent (E-5).  During his service to our country, he was awarded the National Defense Ribbon, the USMC Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) Service Medal, Sea Service Qualification Badge and Expert Rifle Badge.

As a civilian, Joey worked as a Lineman Apprentice with the goal of becoming a Lineman.  His hobbies/interests included rock music, motorcycle and bicycle riding, friends and family, golfing, guns, cars and rock climbing.  He was passionate about anything Marine Corps and Country.  Tragically, he lost his life when a vehicle made a sudden and unexpected left turn in front of him while he was riding his motorcycle.

Joey leaves behind his parents, Yessenia and Jesus Ramirez, and siblings, Bella, Ashley and Eduardo. He will also be missed by numerous cousins.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to the cemetery, approximately 11 miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.  For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

TIMETABLE FOR TUESDAY, 17 DECEMBER, 2024

1030:  Stage at Preston and Simmons Mortuary, 3358 Mission Inn Ave, Riverside, CA.  (Please arrive quietly as services will be in session.)  https://maps.app.goo.gl/kcvHNr6eojHJqxb79

NOTE:  This mortuary is right across the street as you exit the freeway on Mission Inn Ave.  A suggestion
would be to turn right on Mission Inn Ave and then make a left on the first street, Lime Street, and turn
left into the parking lot behind the mortuary.

1100:  Mission briefing.

1130:  Flag line for transfer from chapel to coach and departure to RNC.

1200-1215:  Approximate arrival at RNC and move to staging lane.

1245:  Shelter for flag line and military.

“One straw at a time.”

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.  Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
