The 2014 Ceremony to Honor our POW/MIA on Camp Pendleton is on the 19th of September. Once again the Patriot Guard has been invited to attend. This will be a ceremony for the dedication of the relocation of the POW/MIA Memorial to the new Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton. We are honored to do so.
In 2013, the Patriot Guard Riders rode to honor the 12 missing Corpsmen and all other POW/MIAs in a ceremony at the old base hospital on Camp Pendleton. As a direct result of our participation and the other ceremony participants, the local media coverage resulted in more and more people becoming aware of the missing Corpsmen from the Vietnam War. Over the years, the original 12 has been lowered to 7 still missing Corpsmen. Increased awareness led to the direct return of 5 of the 7 returned Corpsmen. Your participation in this program enhances this increased awareness and we have been invited to return this year to the site where the POW/MIA Memorial Statue has been moved.
During the 2013 ceremony the names of seven Navy Hospital Corpsmen, still missing from the Vietnam War, were read one by one as a banner with their photo was displayed for the audience by members of the hospital’s First Class Petty Officers Association. A wreath was placed at the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Memorial in honor of all POWs and MIAs. A moment of silence was observed followed by the playing of Taps by a bugler from the First Marine Division Band. The local media requested and received posed pictures by the Riders with the Participants and our flags flew proudly. The ceremony was followed by a short reception for all attendees.
We will meet at Denny's in the Harbor at Oceanside, CA, then travel in a group onto the base to attend the ceremony where we will stand a Flag Line as requested.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring these military Heroes. Please see the time table if you would like to participate

Each motorcycle rider should have registration, proof of insurance. You should also wear hard sole shoes, long pants, full-fingered gloves, a long sleeve outer garment, eye protection, and a DOT helmet. A brightly colored reflective vest is no longer needed but recommended. Have your I.D. ready when you arrive at the gate.
You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).
