The family of CAPT Leon Peter Manton has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the services of this Hero, we would be honored to do so.
 
CAPT Leon Peter Manton served in the US Navy, retiring as a Captain, and later worked for the Secretary of the Navy in a civilian position.  He completed a total of 43 years service with the military and in a civilian capacity.  He was at one time the Captain of the USS Yorktown CVS 10.  He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Navy Cross as a result of his distinguished service.
 
Captain Manton was born Dec 09, 1923 in Italy to American parents.  He graduated from Bentley University and Northwestern University with degrees in accounting and a masters in financial management.  His job with the Secretary of the Navy staff was teaching and lecturing on the Naval Industrial Fund.
 
Leon loved playing golf and was a member of the Village Country Club.
 
Leon is survived by 2 brothers George and Raymond in Massachusetts and a dear friend Judith Field in Lompoc.

Hero will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
