The family of Antonio Cortez DeAro, 90, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his service and military honors, we would be honored to do so.
Anthony enlisted as an air cadet candidate in 1944. The air cadets were formed to train pilots for the Army Air Corps. They had really no rank per say but were treated as officers during their training period. He completed basic flying school at King Field, CA. He then went on to advance flying school at Scott Airfield, Ill. He was trained as a pilot in B-25's and in B-29's. When the end of WWII came, all training activities ceased. After things settled down, he was awarded the status of Flight Sergeant under the Army Air Force. When the Army Air Force became the US Air Force, Flight Sergeants were discontinued. Tony wanted to leave the Air Force but when the Korean War broke out, all military discharges were put on hold. He was training pilots in instrument flying when his term of service came to an end. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1953.
Anthony went on to become a government inspector at Douglas Aircraft Co. and then on to the aerospace industry. He has multiple awards from NASA and other government agencies for his work. Tony enjoyed golfing, bowling, prospecting for lost treasures in the west, going to the movies and Mexican music.
He is survived by 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
