The Family of Frank Plebanek has invited the Patriot Guard to join them in paying Honors to this American Hero, it will be our honor to do so. We have lost another member of the "Greatest Generation". Let's do this Hero proud.

Frank tried to get into the Navy to become a fighter pilot on an aircraft carrier, but he was told to wait for his notification on his tests.  Being as he had enlisted for the draft, he knew his time was coming so he and his buddy went to the draft board and told them they were ready to go. Frank and his buddy ended up in the Army Air Corp. They were drafted 19 March 1943 and assigned to the 325th Glider Regiment.

PFC Frank Plebanek was discharged with an Honorable Discharge on 22 Dec. 1945 and got home on Christmas Eve at 1830 just in time for dinner.

Frank received numerous awards while being in combat in 6 different theaters of operation.

While being attached to the 82nd Airborne Glider infantry he served in Normandy, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe. His major battles he was involved in were  "Operation Market Garden".  PFC Frank Plebanek received Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

After discharge Frank met the love of his life Evelyn Mckinley and married her in 1947. Frank went to work for Standard Oil in 1947 where he became station manager. He eventually ended up owning the stations. He also worked as a defense contractor, machine tool rebuilder until 1990.  Frank loved camping, fishing, target shooting and crossword puzzles.

Frank is survived by his two younger brother, Fred, Anthony and his 3 children: Maxine, Steve, and Don. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.
