The family of Major Andrew M. Budenz has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the services of this Hero and we would be honored to do so.

Maj Andrew Budenz, 34 was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident at Palomar Mountain on Saturday, 21 Sept.

Maj Budenz was a very proud Marine assigned to VMGR 352, Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron, at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.  This Squadron is also known as the "Raiders".  Maj Budenz served in both Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2010 with his squadron.  The Raiders have been in existence since 1945 serving in every war since that time.

Maj Budenz graduated from San Diego State University in 2003, he loved the Marine Corps and he loved riding his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife Jen Budenz, his brother Joe Sears and his sister Karin Sears.

Services will be at Miramar Chapel on base at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar then we will accompany the Hero and his family to Miramar National Cemetery for Military Honors.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church services to his final resting place. Each motorcycle rider should have registration, proof of insurance. You should also wear hard sole shoes, long pants, full-fingered gloves, a long sleeve outer garment, eye protection, and a DOT helmet. A brightly colored reflective vest is no longer needed but recommended.  Have your I.D. ready when you arrive at the gate.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
