We have been invited by our PGR and ALR brothers from Queen Creek, AZ to accompany them as they deliver health and comfort items to the Wounded Warriors at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego. These are items not provided to them and that they are unable to provide for themselves for whatever reason.

Operation Wounded Warrior is a project conceived by the ALR Post 129 in Queen Creek to collect needs items throughout the year for the warriors. They then ride out to San Diego and deliver them once a year. They have been doing this for 7 years, this is the second year the PGR has been invited to accompany them, we will be honored to do so!

We will meet at San Diego Harley Davidson and ride as a group to Veterans Museum at Balboa Park, where the ALR Post 460 from San Diego will join the ride, we will then accompany them to Balboa Naval Hospital. The PGR and the ALR have enjoyed a close partnership in honoring our Heroes since the beginnings of the PGR in 2005 (you can read about this on the PGR National web site under our history at this link: http://www.patriotguard.org/Home/OurHistory/tabid/145/Default.aspx), many of our members are also ALR members. We will all ride together to Balboa Naval Hospital to meet with the Wounded Warriors and have an opportunity to shake their hands and thank them for their service and sacrifice, and let them know how much each one of them means to us.

The warriors love the bikes, so this will be an opportunity for them to enjoy a bike show of sorts also, so shine your bike up and come on out for a fun ride and morning with our PGR/ALR brothers and the Wounded Warriors!!!

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring these American Heroes. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying from the museum to the hospital. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. You may go directly to the museum if you have signed up previously with the RC (see next paragraph)

NOTE:  Due to heightened security at Balboa Hospital we must provide a list in advance of names of members who plan to attend, please email the RC Bill Reid at sandiegocoop@att.net with your name ASAP.

Each motorcycle rider should have registration, proof of insurance. You should also wear hard sole shoes, long pants, full-fingered gloves, a long sleeve outer garment, eye protection, and a DOT helmet. A brightly colored reflective vest is no longer needed but recommended.  Have your I.D. ready when you arrive at the gate.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).
