The family of MSG Gilbert Parry has requested the Patriot Guard to honor  this American Hero, it would be our honor to do so.

Gilbert was always the comedian no matter where he was at. Anytime he could make a joke out of something he would jump at the occasion...That comical attitude he had toward life attracted a certain young lady named Char. It became a marriage that would stand the test of time. Char said that Gilbert was joking all the way up to 30 min. before he stepped from this life to the next.

Gilbert was always military oriented and was very proud of his Country. Gilbert joined the United States Coast Guard in Jan. 1943 and served until Jan. 1946. He attained the rank of Electrician third Class (ET3).

Gilbert served aboard the USS Escatawpa (AOG-27) a Navy gasoline tanker that was manned by a Coast Guard crew.  She was assigned to the Pacific Fleet, operating in the Pacific Theater fueling ships and craft on an inter-island circuit in the central Pacific.

10 yrs. later after leaving the Coast Guard Gilbert answered the call from the National Guard to serve his Country. Gilbert was in the National Guard for another 27 yrs. He served there from Jan. 1956 to Jan. 1983.Upon his discharge he decided to retire.

Gilbert passed away peacefully and painlessly on Thursday Feb. 26th still joking around with his wife.

Gilbert leaves behind, his wife Char, 8 children, 8 Grandchildren, and 16 Great Grandchildren.
