MWD “Baddy” J473

The family of  Baddy has invited the Patriot Guard to stand a flag line for this 4 legged Hero, it will be our honor to do so.

Baddy was born on  June 1, 2004  and passed on  February 25, 2015. He was 4 months from his 11th Birthday.

Baddy was a Military Working Dog (MWD). He was a Brave and Devoted Marine.

Baddy served as a Patrol Explosive Detector Dog, (PEDD). Baddy served his entire career with the Marine 1, HMX-1 Presidential Helicopter Squadron.

Baddy’s ability to detect 9 different explosive odors along with being one of the best attack dogs the military had to offer made him one of the best suited to protect both President Bush, and President Obama.

Baddy was deployed on over 100 Presidential Missions in over 30 states, and 8 different countries.

Baddy was routinely tasked with completing searches for explosives anywhere Marine One would be located. He was also tasked with numerous searches at both MCB Quantico and in Washington DC.

Baddy’s personality was such an anomaly in the field that he won over everyone’s heart with his charming personality, that’s if you were not his 'mark' under duress. This resulted in Cpl Charlsie Hoffman, (Baddy’s handler for two years,) to be recognized more so as Baddy’s handler in lieu of her rank and title.

Baddy was the perfect gentleman while performing demos for White House VIPs, personnel, families, Girl Scout, Boy Scout Troops and anyone else that Baddy may have been called on to please.

MWD Baddy - J473 retired due to arthritis in his hips and an inability to work in the heat. He was adopted by Cpl Hoffman and became just Baddy, a loving and devoted family member. It was eight months after their reunion that Baddy was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

On February 25, 2015, seven months later, Baddy lost his heroic fight with cancer and crossed over the "Rainbow Bridge" to be with those "Heroic War Dogs" that have gone before him.

Baddy's legacy of Love, Courage and Perseverance will live on forever in the hearts of those left behind!

This was a quote in Baddys Honor:

“Where Eagles Fear to Fly, K9's Leads the Way!
                  God Bless you Brave Hero!
Watch over your fellow Marines from Heaven’s Gate!"

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
