The family of Brian Charles Markle has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in the services of their loved one and to honor this American Hero. We are privileged to attend.
Brian became a member of the United States Marine Corps in June 2006 during OIF Iraq War. Brian was awarded the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (Kuwait), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Letter of Appreciation, and Rifle Expert Badge (2nd Award) and was a Rifleman for over 3 years.
Brian has always been a selfless gentleman. Even during USMC Boot Camp, with a broken foot himself, he pulled one of his brothers to the finish. He was one of few Privates chosen to become a MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) Trainer. There was no stopping him. Being a Marine was everything to him. He deployed on a Naval pump (S.S. Cleveland) in 2007, and spent 9 months overseas.
Brian was also an avid motorcyclist. On his post deployment leave he purchased a motorcycle and was involved in a serious accident. He ended up making the decision to amputate his leg, as it was the only chance he had to re-entering full duty in the Marines. The pain and damage was so extensive, that Brian was unable to live out his dream, and in October 2010 he received an Honorable Medical Discharge. Brian continued forward, painfully struggling through each day. With the support from his Marine brothers and sisters, he worked at Epsilon and returned to school. In the last 5 years he received his AA and was completing his BA. Brian also bought his first home, but was only in his home a couple days before his passing.
Brian is survived by his mother Diane Markle, his father Brian L. Markle, and his brother Charles. He is also survived by his Grandmother and Grandpap Altman, his Grandfather and Grandmother Markle, his Uncles Jim, Paul, & Mike Altman, and Troy Markle, and Aunt Vicky Markle.
