The family of Larry Earl Vellas has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Larry E. Vellas was 75 years old when he entered eternal rest. He was born on 22 February 1940 and died on 03 September 2015 at the Veteran’s Home in Barstow.

Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Cold War Era from November 1958 to December 1962. Larry started his enlistment with boot camp in San Diego. His duty stations included Hawaii, training in 29 Palms, spent one year in Japan and his last duty station was at El Toro. Some his citations/awards included the Sharpshooter Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

After his honorable discharge as a Corporal, Larry worked as a Swimming Pool Technician for over thirty-five years. Larry loved to hunt and fish and later in life got into golfing. Larry loved the Lord and loved to share the Gospel. He attended Hesperia Community Church in Hesperia.

Larry is survived by his children, Jason, Brian and daughter-in-law Linda.

If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember to share your condolences with the family at this link:  https://www.patriotguard.org/showthread.php?408749

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
