Our friend Sergeant Major Christopher Gunn with the Office of Military & Veterans Affairs and the family of Staff Sergeant Noel Christy Deperio have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

SSgt Deperio proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps, having served 20 years from December 1983 to December 2003, and he served in the Gulf War.

For his service, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three Gold Stars, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Navy Unit Commendation with Silver Star, the Meritorious Unit Commendation with Silver Star, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with Silver Star, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with one Silver Star and three Bronze Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), two Certificates of Commendation, three Meritorious Mast, and Letter of Appreciation.

After his service, Noel was a Correctional Officer at Otay Mesa, and we was quite the rock & roll fan.

Noel is survived by his 3 sons: John Paul Jones Deperio (US Navy active duty), Jon Bon Jovi Deperio, and Wilfredo Perez.

The family has requested accompaniment from the mortuary in Kearny Mesa to Miramar National Cemetery, a distance of approximately 5 miles.

Note: This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, please see the time table if you would like to participate.   For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
