The family of John C. Kidd, has requested the Patriot Guard to join them in honoring this American Hero. It will be our privilege to do so.
John was born in West Virginia in a time when poverty ran rampant in his town. John was adopted at a very young age. There was not a lot of things to do growing up where he didn't get into trouble.
After finishing school John was waiting for the right time to get out of West Virginia. When the time presented itself, John was on the first bus out of town, It was then that John joined the U.S. Army.
John served in the Army from Jan. 1950 - Jan. 1953 where he received an Honorable Discharge.
After his enlistment in the Army John joined the U.S. Marine Corp, where he also served Honorably from Jan. 1953 - Jan. 1956.
During Johns time in the service he was stationed in Korea where he was exposed to horrible conditions. Some of them being the weather, and the long treks thru frozen weather. He was also exposed to loud noises from heavy artillery.
John began having hallucinations, and trouble with his hands due to frost bite conditions, and hearing problems from the heavy artillery fire. John suffered terribly from PTSD and having 70% hearing loss. John suffered with this up to the time of his passing.
After Johns time in the service he met a young lady named Sandy, who had 2 daughters. They met at the gas station John owned in El Monte. John took both of the daughters in as his own.
John sold the gas station and went into the flooring business that he owned for over 25 yrs.
When he retired, John loved to go on cruises, one of which he just finished this past November. He loved watching his Grandson catch fish. John also loved to play the slots and checking out nice cars.
John passed away Feb. 23, 2017 just a month shy of celebrating his 48th Anniversary with the love of his life, Sandy. John told everyone he would love to have a Military send off, that was his dream.
John is survived by his wife: Sandy, Daughters: Stacy, Helen, & Rhonda,: 5 Grandchildren, & 3 Great- Great Grandchildren.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
