The family of Michael Joseph Salvato Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.
Michael J. Salvato was born on 12 August 1933 in Hudson, Ohio and entered into Eternal Rest on 13 June 2017.
Michael served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Some of the citation/awards that he received included the National Defense Service Medal.
Michael was honorably discharged as an AN.
After the military, Michael worked for Firestone in Ohio and move to California in 1959 with his wife and daughter Dianne. Michael worked at General Dynamics in Pomona until 1985. Michael lived in Pomona for nineteen years and move to Claremont in 1979.
Michael was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer chaplain at Pomona Valley Hospital for thirty-four years and a member of the Knights of Columbus since the early 1960’s. Michael performed over two thousand callouts and was the Navigator for the Monsignor English Assembly. He also played the piano and organ and was very involved with his church and city communities such as fiestas, parades, car shows, help feed the poor, etc. and loved to sing and dance.
Michael is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Rita and two daughters Dianne and Clarinda. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and six great grandchildren
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please arrive quietly as the services will be in progress.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
