Part 2 The family of SPC James P. Misenhimer and the U.S. Army has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to be there for this hero's service and military honors, we would be honored to do so.
James was one of three boys . He has an older brother Matthew and a twin brother Brian. James was born in San Diego and raised in La Quinta, Calif. James also lived for a short time in Bishop, CA and Carlsbad, CA. While growing up he couldn't wait to go visit Grandpa Ned's farm in Missouri, and ride quads and go fishing with grandpa.
While in high school James became involved in ROTC, and was instrumental in starting a La Crosse team along with his brother Brian. He also joined the Riverside County Fire Explorer Scouts.
Fire Dept. blood runs deep in this family. James father Terry is a retired CAL Fire Apparatus Engineer from the City of La Quinta, and his brother Matthew is an active CAL Fire Captain in Wildomar.
James graduated from La Quinta High school in 2002. Upon graduation James worked as a barista for several years and attended College of the Desert.
When James turned 26 he enlisted in the United States Army. He quickly became a 12B combat Engineer and went through AIT in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. James was stationed at Camp Casey, South Korea then served in Afghanistan with the 370th Sapper Co, 54th EN Battalion. His most recent duty assignment was in Bamberg, Germany.
James was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend. His kindness, sense of humor, and great smile will be deeply missed.
James is survived by his parents Terry and Julie Misenhimer, 2 brothers Matthew and Brian, Bonnie, his sister in law, nephew Gavin, niece Kennedy, also many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Note: Terry. the father of our hero, has requested to have 6 pall bearers from the PGR to carry their hero from the chapel to the coach. In his words it would be " His honor to have us do this" . This will only be done at the mortuary, after we get to RNC the Honor Team will take charge.
Services will be in progress so please arrive quietly. When parking leave room for the coach if you don't see it out front already. NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the chapel services to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
