The family of Roy Ellsworth Wayne Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to so do so.

Roy Wayne Jr., 89, was born in the US Panama Canal zone in 1928.  He and his Navy family moved to San Diego in 1935. In 1939 the Wayne Family was named San Diego's finest family.  By 1941 with war on the horizon, Roy Sr. was deployed to Pearl Harbor where, on the morning of December 7, Roy Jr. was one of the first Americans to witness the attack by the Japanese Empire.  After the attack, Roy and family were sent back to the safer local of San Diego where he attended Hoover High School.  After graduation, Roy followed in his father's footsteps and joined the US Navy. He was deployed to Adak, Alaska where he served as a Radioman.

In civilian life Roy worked for the San Diego County assessor office; he retired as assistant assessor in 1981. He and his second wife Peg spent the major part of their retired lives traveling the world and spending time with family and their dear friends at the El Cajon Elks Club.

Roy is survived by his children and many grand and great-grandchildren.
