The family of Gunnery Sergeant Lance Gerard Starnes has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

GySgt Starnes proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Marine Corps.  He was an Infantry Weapons Repairman, and an Electro-Optical Instrument Repairman.  For his service, he was awarded 3 Letters of Appreciation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 3 Stars, Good Conduct Medal with 5 Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Southeast Asia Service Medal with 2 Stars, Meritorious Unit Commendation with 2 Stars, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, and a Navy Unit Commendation.

After GySgt Starnes retirement from the United States Marine Corps he worked as an electrician.  Lance loved going fast, flying high, his daughters, his grandkids, and his dogs.

Lance is survived by his daughters Brandy Seward-Starnes and Rachelle Zimmerman, and 3 grandchildren.

The family has requested an accompaniment from Eternal Hills Mortuary, Oceanside to Miramar National Cemetery, a distance of approximately 26 miles.  It will be our honor to do so.  The family will be providing Professional Motor Escorts for the procession.

Note: This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, please see the time table if you would like to participate.   For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery,  we will meet you there.
