The family of
Gunnery Sergeant Clarence Elmer Deckwa Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
GySgt Deckwa proudly served his country for 21 years in the United States Marine Corps. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and received many ribbons and awards for his service.
After GySgt Deckwa’s retirement from the United States Marines he co-founded B&C Auto Repair, Vista, CA, where he worked for 30 years. In 1997 his daughter Cecilia La Bouve and her husband Ray took over the business and they have operated it since then. After leaving B&C Auto Repair, Clarence then worked for the Vista Unified School District.
Clarence enjoyed fishing and playing pool at American Legion Post 365 and VFW 7041. He is survived by his sister Rose Deckwa, son Dennis Deckwa, daughter Cecelia La Bouve, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family has requested an accompaniment from American Legion 365 in Vista to Miramar National Cemetery, a distance of approximately 35 miles. It will be our honor to do so. Clarence’s daughter Cecelia and her husband Ray are AL 365 Riders and will be riding in the procession. Ray will be carrying Clarence’s remains for his final ride.
Note: This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying this hero and family to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
