This mission will consist of a Pony Express of our Hero involving both Arizona and So Cal PGR to bring our Hero to his final resting place.
The family of Ernest Dale Burrell has requested that the Patriot Guard pay Honors to this American Hero and accompany him on his final journey, it will be our distinct Honor to do so.
Dale, as he was known by family and friends, was born Sept. 8, 1938 in Downey, Calif. After Dale graduated Huntington Park High School he enlisted in the military to serve his Country. He served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1961.
During Dale's time in the Air Force he served in Puerto Rico during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Many nights he ended up having to sleep on the runways in case a call came to scramble for the planes. This was a very volatile time for the United States and Cuba. Dale attained the rank of Airman 2nd Class while he was serving his Country.
When Dale was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he and his wife Doris moved around from time to time, living in various cities in California. They lived in Norco, Downey, and numerous other places before settling down in Bouse, Arizona.
When Dale became a civilian, he found out camping was just as good as moving from town to town. He and his wife Doris loved boating and camping. Their main goal was to make sure they never fell out of love with each other, and they never did.
Dale's time on this planet came to an end at the age of 79 years. He has now gone on to find another place of adventure and to wait for Doris.
Dale will be traveling by motorcycle from Arizona to Chiriaco Summit, with his friend and American Legion brother, Chuck Jordan. Chuck is an ALR member as well as the Chaplain that will be officiating at Dale's service. Chuck will turn over the cremains to Mike "Joker" Courtright, our Ride Captain, for final transport.
Note: This mission will consist of multiple stops for food and fuel. If you want to join along the way you can join at any of the stops. Come fueled up and ready to roll.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero from Chiriaco Summit to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
