The family of Richard Gallegos Garza has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his funeral service and Military Honors, it will be our honor to do so.
Richard Gallegos Garza served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps from April 26, 1976 to April 25, 1979 when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal. His primary duty was as a Rifleman. He was always very proud of his time in the Marine Corps, and shared this with the grandsons, 3 of whom plan to follow in his footsteps and become Marines.
After serving in the Military, Richard served his community by working for the Superior Court of Los Angeles as a Jury Interviewer for 35 years. His job was to interview potential jurors and accept or excuse each one. He enjoyed his job and met many famous people over the years, as they are also called to serve on juries. He excused John Travolta and Jack Nicholson just to mention a couple.
Richard loved fishing, and in his spare time would go fishing every chance he had. He would fish anywhere, deep water, lakes, rivers, his daughter said he could catch a fish anywhere, even a pond. He raised his own worms for fishing, and he loved teaching his 7 grandsons how to fish. He was a wonderful Grandpa, spending a lot of time with all of them, and he was the official toy assembler for all the Christmas toys.
Richard is survived by his wife of 35 years, Yolanda, his daughter Elaine, his son Angel, 7 grandsons, and 1 granddaughter, his little Princess.
