The family of Major Pete Solis Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this Hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
 
Pete was born December 27, 1933 and passed into eternal rest on March 31, 2018.

Pete enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 and retired from military service in 1974.  He had attained the Rank of Major in 1973. He served as the Special Forces Commander ( Green Beret ) 101st Airborne and 5th Special Forces. MAJ Solis received the following Medals or Ribbons, Good Conduct, Parachutist Badge expert Badge with Bar Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, National Service Medal ( Oak Leaf Cluster ), Army Commendation Medal, Army Occupation Medal, Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citation Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Counter Offensive Phase II Campaign, Vietnam Counter Offensive Campaign, TET 69 Counter Offensive Campaign. MAJ Solis served two deployments in Vietnam, Summer - Fall 1969, and Winter - Spring 1970.

After the military Pete went to work in sales with his brother, then went to work in the Airline Industry. When he retired again he loved to cook, entertaining the family and surrounding himself with his friends.

Pete is survived by his wife Irasema Solis, Sons Peter, Paul and Patrick, sister Mary Solis-Toth, and 5 Grandchildren

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church services to his final resting place, approximately 36.5 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

1130 - Flag line as our Hero is brought out to the awaiting coach

1300 - Est time of arrival at RNC Staging area #2, PGR to North of Staging area #8

1315 - KSU to Shelter for Flag Line, Service, and Military Honors for our Hero

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
