Jackie Lamar Brown, 70, USN, Vietnam, Ridgecrest,- 28 APR 18
« on: April 24, 2018, 01:03:01 AM »
The family of Jackie Lamar Brown, USN, has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero for services on Saturday 28 APRIL 2018 at 2:00pm at Calvary Chapel 210 E. Springer Ave, Ridgecrest, CA.  We are HONORED to do so.

Jack was an Torpedo Man 2nd Class and EOD Technician. He served for 10 years, during the Viet Nam war, from June 24, 1968 until honorably being discharged on June 22, 1978.  He earned the Viet Nam Service medal with 4 Bronze Stars and 2 Good Conduct Medals as well as several Unit Commendations.  TM2 Brown served on a few Submarines where he became a Second Class Diver and eventually qualified as an EOD Technician.

Jack was from Ponce De Leon, Florida originally and joined the Navy out of High School in June of 1968.  One of his last duty stations was China Lake Naval Weapons Station where he was honorably discharged and immediately went to work as a Civil Service Range Technician. He retired after 38 years of combined service.  He conducted many ordinance tests and range clearance operations on multiple ranges and areas surrounding Indian Wells Valley.  He enjoyed his family, motorcycles and being at one with nature, hiking all over Kern County, Indian Wells Valley and the Eastern Sierra Mountains.  It was said that Jack left his foot prints on a LOT of ground in this area.

Jack and his wife Leslie Brown, who also retired as a Civil Service Employee after 30 years of service, were taken suddenly in a tragic motor vehicle accident.  Jack and Leslie leave behind two sons, and 6 Grand Children, Benjamin and Will Brockwell of Ridgecrest, California.  Benjamin and his wife Michelle have 3 children Benjamin 7, Tyler 6 and Joey 1.  Will Brockwell and his Girl-friend Katie, have 3 children William 6, Whitney 4, and Hunter 1.  Jack and Leslie will be missed by many of the local community.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his wife from the mortuary to their funeral service and then to their final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
