The family of Captain David R. Rosa and the Long Beach Fire Department invites the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in their loved one's funeral services, we would be honored to do so.

Captain Rosa joined the Long Beach Fire Department in 2001 and over the years worked as a firefighter, paramedic, training instructor for fire recruits and firefighters. In 2011 David was promoted to Captain and most recently was assigned to Station No. 10.

In 2003, then firefighter Rosa was honored for pulling another firefighter to safety after he fell into a six-foot deep pit wearing 50 pounds of gear and became submerged in foam, water and crude oil.

On 25 JUN 18, Captain Rosa responded to an explosion and fire at a retirement complex in the City of Long Beach. After he and his firefighters extinguished the fire, he and another firefighter entered the building to assist any of the elderly. While in the building he and his fellow firefighter were shot, killing Captain Rosa.

Captain Rosa was a well-respected fire officer. He served as a mentor for many young adults, paramedics and firefighters. He was dedicated to his faith, family and profession.

Captain Rosa is survived by his wife, Linley; two sons, Alec and Samuel; parents, Paul and Jean Rosa and sister, Julia.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero.
