The family of Jack C. Cannady, US Navy and Korean War veteran, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor him for his service to our country. It would be our honor to do so.

Jack Cannady, 86, entered the Navy in 1950 as a quartermaster and became a member of the Underwater Demolition Teams, the forerunners to the Navy Seals. Jack’s awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Korean Service Medal.

After his military service, Jack worked for a number of companies. He was working for General Dynamics for the first manned rocket launch and was VP of Finance for the first Apollo Mission. Jack was also VP of Finance for System Development Corporation, Whittaker Corporation and Amex Corporation. In 2013 he retired to spend time with his wife, Julie, in Tehachapi, California. He is survived by his wife, Julie; his daughter, Laurie; and 1 granddaughter, Jennifer.  Jack is predeceased by his son Scott and daughter Marcia.

We will accompany this hero from Clairemont Mortuary, San Diego to Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, a distance of approximately 5 miles.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero from the mortuary to Miramar National Cemetery for his military honors. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.   For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

1230 – Flag Line for Dignified Transfer to Vehicle

1300 – Approximate arrival at Miramar National Cemetery
1330 – Flag Line, Funeral Service with Full Military Honors

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
