IMPORTANT NOTE: WE ARE POSTING THIS VERY EARLY DUE TO ALL THE INQUIRES ABOUT THE SERVICES, PLEASE WATCH THE DAY/DATE SO YOU DON'T SHOW UP A WEEK EARLY

The family of Daniel "Lolo" Hernandez Sr. has requested his family of Patriot Guard Riders to pay Honors to this American Hero. It will be our Honor to do so.

Daniel was born on May 30, 1951, he fought a long bout with Cancer, God figured he had enough and called him home on Sept. 7, 2018.

From the time Daniel's feet hit the ground it seemed he was always wanting to help someone or do something for someone.  While he was growing up that drive never changed.  He graduated High School in June of 1969, at which time he joined the United States Navy Nov. 12,1969.  While in the Navy Lolo did 3 tours of duty in Vietnam serving aboard the USS Midway (CVA - 41). Lolo attained the rank of FN (E-3)  During Daniels time in the Navy he earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Campaign Medal w/2 stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 1 device,  Presidential Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Korean Service Medal,  Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with 3 Bronze  Stars.

After serving in the Navy, Lolo decided to join the US Army Air National Guard (USAANG).  During his time in the National Guard Lolo became a MP (Military Police) with the 40th Infantry Division based out of Los Alamitos. Lolo attained the rank of Sgt. 1st Class before his Honorable Discharge from his time of service with the National Guard.  One of the major assignments was "Operation Garden Plot" which was an executive order for Military to help stop riots in the city. His unit was called out during the Rodney King riots.

Daniel's friends always called him "Lolo" to which he became very accustomed.  After Lolo stepped into civilian life he went to work with Albertsons where he spent the next 40 yrs both working and helping people. He always had a smile on his face and would go the extra mile to help anyone he could.

One of his favorite things to do was to play Santa Claus for the local elementary schools, family, and friends.  For the past 22 years, Lolo and his elves would visit homes on Christmas Eve and present the families with gifts.  He loved putting smiles on people’s faces.

Daniel was a local icon in the City of Rowland Heights, he helped coach or manage many teams from many organizations such as Puente Hills Little League, Rowland Heights AYSO, Rowland Heights Little League and Rowland Raiders Junior All American Football. He also umpired or refereed many of these games.

Lolo was always a help for Vietnam Vets no matter where they were, or where he had to go to help. Daniel was the first one there and last one out.  He joined the Patriot Guard Riders in 2009 and was always a main stay to keeping everyone hydrated and making sure if anything needed to be done to make the mission a success he was there to pitch in.

Dani loved his USC football, and his Raiders and his Oakland A's.  Dani enjoyed his life with all of his family and friends. Lolo loved being with all of the kids and Grandkids. Something that even his older boys still talk about today.

Daniel leaves behind his beautiful wife Ludi, and 3 strong sons, Michael, Nacho, Daniel Jr. as well as his Grandkids, (one on the way) and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Nephews

Lolo will truly be missed by those of us in the Patriot Guard Riders. We will never forget you, you were a great Patriot, a great Brother and a Great man. Fair winds and following seas Brother...
