The family of Thomas Nathaniel Westfall has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Thomas "Tommy" Westfall passed away the age of 91 in National City, California on September 6th, 2018.  Thomas was born March 20th, 1927 in Merced, California.  He was raised by his mother, Merca Synder and his uncle, Nicholas Westfall who adopted him; he was their only child.  The family moved to Modesto, California where Thomas attended Modesto Community College, earning an Associate’s Degree in Animal Husbandry.

Thomas left Modesto when he joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars.  He retired from the Navy as a First Class Petty Officer in 1969 after serving nearly 25 years.

Afterwards he worked for Midway Vacuum Repair, and then for AmVets, fully retiring from work in 1992.  Thomas, better known by his family and friends as Tommy, was a fun guy who loved to joke around and talk forever with friends.  He loved his devoted wife, Primitiva Rayanon, claiming he married the right woman who cared for him and his family throughout his lifetime.  They were married on February 18th, 1963 in the Philippines and celebrated 55 years together in 2018.  Tommy loved woodworking.  He was also a member of the Elks Club and the San Diego Goldmining Club.

He is survived by his wife, his 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
