The family of Randal (Randy) Blackwell have asked the Patriot Guard Riders to pay Honors on their hero's final journey home. It will be our honor to do so.

Randy was born on February 19th 1952 in Redlands, CA and passed away on August 14, 2018 in Portland, OR.

Randy attended Redlands High School. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Army and served for twenty years from October 1969 to October 1989, before retiring. He had deployments in Germany and Vietnam. Randy was a casualty clerk in Vietnam.

At the time of his retirement, he had attained the rank of Sergeant First Class.
He received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

After leaving the military Randy worked as a civilian employee for the Department of Defense for 25 years.

He enjoyed fishing, music, and people in general.

After retirement he moved to Portland OR. Randy is survived by his wife of 40 years Joan, daughter Jenny, grandsons Drake and Dominik, Parents Patricia and Don. He is also survived by 4 brothers and 4 sisters and other extended family.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
