The family of U.S.M.C. Sergeant Richard " Dick" Pistole has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their Hero for his final respects and honors for his service to our great country. We will be greatly honored to attend.

Richard enlisted into the United States Marines in 30 July 1951 and was honorably discharged 29 July 1955.  Richard was in the Korean War and he was assigned to the tanks. While serving Richard went behind enemy lines 5 times to bring out troops stuck there. Because of his actions, Richard received a letter of commendation and service medal with a  " V " and a battle field promotion.

After Dick (as he was known to family and friends) was honorably discharged. He volunteered with the La Habra Police Department in 1983 as a member of Radio Patrol. he was later hired as a Police Service Aide in January of 2003. assisting with the IT Department. He retired from the Department in 2005. While working there he became a father/grandfather figure to all personnel. Dick remained in contact with La Habra Police after his retirement. The Department has suffered a great loss in his passing.

Dick expressed to family, La Habra PD and everyone he knew, his great honor to serve in the Marines Corps.

Dick is survived by his son Jeff and step-daughter Shirley. Dick had 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grand daughter.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. Remember the weather is getting hot again and if you are planning to attend. Please make sure you hydrate before, during and after.
