The family of Robert Benjamin Grego has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Bob was born on 30 May 1938 in Los Angeles and entered into Eternal Rest on 03 August 2019.

Bob grew up in a bilingual Italian-American home with his parents, Italian grandmother and his two brothers, Michael and Richard. In 1955, his family moved to Costa Rica where he graduated high school and would meet his first wife Marta Acuña, and became fluent in Spanish, making him trilingual.

Bob grew up an avid sports fans, following all major sports with his true passion being the Olympics and World Cup. In high school, Bob was a champion discus thrower, a champion bowler and rally car racer as a young man.

Bob proudly served his country from 1959 to 1979 in the U.S. Army. His awards/citations included the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Expert Qualification Badge(M-16), Expert Qualification Badge(M-14) and Excellence-in-Competition Badge(Pistol). While in the Army, Bob became a champion pistol shooter. For many years, he held the Central American record for rapid fire and made the U.S. Olympic shooting team for the boycotted 1980 Moscow games. Bob retired as a Sergeant First Class(E-7) in 1979.

In 1978 while in Romania with the U.S. shooting team, he met Monica and were married in 1979. Bob and Monica, a seasoned Romanian rifle shooter herself worked as judges at the shooting range for the 1984 Olympic games in Los Angeles.

After the military, Bob went on to work for the National Rifle Association and then worked for Professional Claims Service until his retirement in 2003 after having heart surgery.

Bob and Monica did everything together including traveling the continental U.S. three times.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Monica, his four children and spouses. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
