The family of LCDR Eugene "Gene" Riley Giffin has invited the Patriot Guard to accompany them and their Hero to Miramar National Cemetery and be present during his Interment service there on Friday, 09 AUG 13. We will be honored to do so.
Gene was born in 1941 in Jacksonville, FL. After graduating from Gainesville High he attended the University of Florida then the Naval Postgraduate School in CA. He served in the US Navy for 20 years and retired as LCDR in 1984. During his service he flew in the F-4 and F-14 RIO in VF-101, attached to VF-161 on the USS Coral Sea, and in VF-154 with the USS Ranger. He was Officer in Charge of Guided Missile Unit 41, and Officer in charge of San Nicolas Island until his retirement. During his time with the VF-161 he flew 213 combat missions over North Vietnam and was awarded 12 Air Medals.
Gene's wife, Frances, shared with us how generous and kind her husband was. He was very involved in his community, volunteering and helping others. He loved his dogs and sports and was also very involved with his church. He touched many lives with his generous spirit and positive attitude. His family and friends were "all better for having known Gene", He will be missed by all.
Gene is survived by his wife, Frances; sons, Eric (wife Kristin) and Brian; and 2 grandchildren; Also his brother, Al (wife Mary Jo); and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents Eileen and Patrick and his sister, Patricia.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).
