The family of David Mendoza has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.
It will be our honor to do so.
David was born in El Paso, Texas on 30 March 1947 and entered into Eternal Rest on 05 January 2020. David’s service-connected disability was a direct result of exposure to Agent Orange.
David enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1965 during the Vietnam War. He was in Vietnam with the 3rd Marine Division in Da Nang during the Tet Offensive in January 1968. He was “in-country” from March 1967 to May 1968. His numerous awards/citations included the Rifle Marksman Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/1 star and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device (1960). David’s last duty assignment at the time of his Honorable Discharge as a Lance Corporal in 1968 was with Support Company, 5th Service Battalion, 5th Marine Division, Camp Pendleton.
After the military, David worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a Trainmaster in Los Angeles.
For the past twenty years, David was a professional boxing referee for the World Boxing Council. He also enjoyed camping, boating and traveling with his family.
David is survived by his wife of forty-nine years Teresa, daughter Natalie and son Gabriel. He also leaves behind two grandsons.
