The family of Jesus Manuel Salazar Rodriguez Jr, 37, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his final honors, we would be honored to do so.
Jesus enlisted in the US Marine Corps at the age of 18, just after graduating high school, in November, 2001. He served proudly, much of that in combat in Iraq. He attained the rank of L/Cpl and was honorably discharged in August, 2004. Jesus was a very proud veteran of the Marine Corps, and always spoke lovingly about his Marine brothers, who he considered a second family.
Jesus was born to Aida and Jesus Salazar on July 24th of 1982. Jesus attended Lincoln High school before enlisting in the Marines. He is remembered as a very generous person with an enormous heart. He enjoyed helping people when they so desperately needed someone, even if he did not know them personally. He was an incredible brother and would always refer to his sister Letty as his twin, as they were inseparable and shared a bond like no other. He was a very devoted son and loved to pull his mom in tightly for an embrace, and jokingly pull her ears as if he was cocking a gun. He was an exceptional father and loved his son more than words can describe. His son was his entire world and made sure he knew that. He provided anything he wanted and would often tell him stories about his time in the Marines Corps.
After serving in combat Jesus really was never quite the same and struggled with the effects of PTSD and other combat related issues and was VA 100% disabled. He finally moved to Rosarito in Baja Mexico to just get away from everything, hoping this would help him deal. It did not, his health became worse and worse and he sadly passed away from the ravages of war, the toll it took on his body. Jesus Manuel Salazar Rodriguez Jr., 37, passed away on June 03, 2020 in Rosarito, Baja California.
Jesus is survived by his parents, Aida Leticia Rodriguez Salazar and Jesus Salazar Sr, his siblings, Letty Daisy Salazar and Jaime Salazar, and his only son, Jesus Manuel Salazar III He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place, approx 61 miles. You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
