The family of SSgt Melvin Logan, USMC, retired has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Melvin was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served from 1956 to 1986, twenty years active, and ten years reserves. He served two honorable tours in Vietnam.

After leaving the Corps he enjoyed fishing. He would go catfishing in Indiana once a year.

Melvin was survived by Gerda his wife of 62 years. He also leaves behind his sister Ginny Andry, and four siblings, Julia Newbern, Stephen Logan, John Logan and Rick Logan, eleven grandchildren David Newbern, Krysta Donaghue, Erik Newbern, Jonathan Newbern, Ryan Conley-Logan, Jason Conley Logan, Sean Logan, Joshua Logan, Brittany Logan, Ayden Logan, and Reagan Logan, and four great-grandchildren.

The family would like us to accompany them from the Park and Ride at I-15 and the North County Fair to Miramar National Cemetery. We will have 2 meeting areas.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome.

If you cannot accompany this Hero from the Park and Ride please consider meeting us at the Cemetery with the following time table.

0845 – Stage at Miramar National Cemetery for those who are not going to the Park and Ride.

0900 – Mission Briefing

0915 – Flag line for welcoming family and other PGR member arriving from the Park and Ride

0930 – Flag line from the family car to Horse-drawn hearse

1000 – Flag Line with full military honors

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).
