The family of James Burton Steele has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the Honors presentation and funeral for their loved one.  We are honored to accept.

James was born in Binghamton, NY on 8 MAR 1943.  Jim passed away in September 2019. He was 77 years of age.

Jim joined the US Army on 28 FEB 64 and served until his honorable discharge on 21 Jun 66.  He served in Germany during the Vietnam era as an Operations and Intelligence NCO.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He had earned the rank of Sergeant prior to his discharge.

James earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering after serving in the military. He worked on some of the first emission controls in Michigan, Connecticut and California.  He later drove cross country trucks for Winchell’s Donut.  His last job was at Woodcraft of Orange County.
 
He married his wife Barbara in 1980.  They ran a wood crafting business called “What Not by Jim and Barb” where they made candle holders, toys, cars and other items.

Jim was survived by his wife Barbara, his 4 step-children, Tammy, James, Michael and Susan. Also his sister Gail, at least 6 step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara, Jim's wife has now passed away on July 13, 2020.  James and Barbara will be interred in a double ceremony.

Covid-19 Restrictions are in place.  Masks and Social distancing are in place as well as a limit of less than 100 mourners/family/Military/ PGR members in attendance.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
