We will meet initially at the Denny's Restaurant where we frequently stage.  If you cannot make it this early just go to the main gate and follow the directions given below.

The SoCalPGR has been invited by the Command of the Marine Corps 13th MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) to Welcome Home all their Marines and Sailors from it’s most recent cruise.  The MEU will be disembarking from ships off the coast of Camp Pendleton Thursday, the 24th of April.  The PGR will be accompanying several units as they arrive ashore to various base camps throughout the base.  This mission will be taking place throughout the entire day due to the fact that there are several thousand service men and women in the MEU.

The PGR will be staging on Del Mar Beach on Pendleton from where we will be operating out of a temporary HQ.  From there we will be assigning various R/C's & PGR members to accompany units as we are given them by Command.  This sort of a Welcome Home requires a strong turnout by our members.  As you can imagine it takes a lot of bikes and man and woman power to get this done, so we want to encourage everyone who can to please come out and give us a few hours and if you can the whole day.  It means so much to the ones coming home.  We run into people we’ve welcomed home years ago and they constantly say that they will never forget that moment.

We will make arrangements with the front gate off of I-5 for you to enter the base (be prepared to show I.D., D.L., Registration, and Proof of Insurance).  This is not the same as going in as a group.  Unless you have military ID you will not be able to go through the Fallbrook Gate either, only the Main Gate off of I-5.  From the gate go directly down to the Del Mar Beach area (see directions in Time Table below) where we will have setup (w/flags of course) where you are to go to check-in.  Individual missions (what we used to call escorts) will be distributed from there.  There will be food and water available and restroom facilities as well.  Multiple R/C's have stepped up and will be guiding your individual accompaniments to their respective ending locations where their families will be waiting.

NOTE:  This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring these Military Heroes.

NOTE:  Due to weather (mainly fog and rough seas) and a million other things that can occur, the starting time can and will change.  Be patient and check this page before leaving for any changes. IMPORTANT: All Riders and Passengers are required to wear Long Sleeves, Long Pants, and helmets. Please see other requirements below.

Directions after Gate:  Once on base to get to Del Mar Beach after coming thru gate turn left at first light, at the stop sign, turn right and go over bridge on Wire Mtn Rd.  Stay on this road until 12th St. and turn left and continue straight ahead until you get to beach and parking lot.  We will be to your left in parking lot.  Caution, watch out for the loose sand in the parking lot.
