The family of Donald Lee Humphrey II has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Mr. Humphrey proudly served his country in the United States Maine Corps, from 1968 through 1972. Mr. Humphrey served 2 tours. During his first tour, immediately after Boot Camp, he was a Machine Gunner. He was a Military Policemen in his 2nd tour, and was involved in interrogations. For his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Certificate of Commendation RVN Cross of Gallantry, and Good Conduct Medal (2). He had attained the rank of Corporal upon his honorable discharge.
Unfortunately, Donald suffered significantly from PTSD, and was one the of the first Vietnam area service person to have been identified with this post combat disorder. He was hospitalized for 3 years for treatment, and even with the treatment that was evolving, his PTSD affected him throughout his life.
Donald was a Sous Chef until his PTSD prevented him from continuing his culinary career. He loved the Los Angeles Kings and was a 50 year fan. He also liked to travel, fish, build rifles, and play video games.
Donald is survived by his wife of 42 years Julie, son Donnie, brothers Michael, Sean, and Joseph, and his sister Cathy, and Elizabeth.
