The family of Gordon Browning have invited us to be present and honor him during his services Tuesday, 22 APR 14. It will be our privilege to do so.

Gordon served as a 2LT in the USAAC during WWII. After the war he joined the LAPD and served as an officer there for 27 years. During that time he was involved in getting kids off the streets to stop them from drag racing by starting car clubs. He was also one of the founding board members of the NHRA. Gordon was instrumental in working with Pomona police to help establish racing at Pomona Raceway, and also did much of the legal legwork that resulted in the creation of Lions Drag Strip a few years later.

Gordon was married to his wife, Betty for 68 years, together they volunteered and contributed to with many community organizations including: Covina Rotary, the Shriners, Masons and he was a strong supporter of the Ontario USO. They donated the flag pole at the USO. He was also involved with the Field of Valor at Covina High school, proceeds from that went to purchasing computers and flat screen TVs for the USO. As a Rotarian he sent monthly care packages to a deployed unit overseas.

Gordon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty. She passed away 6 months ago. He is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Foley & Gayle Ness.

Please join us as we gather to honor this Hero for his faithful service to our nation.
