The family of Eleuterio Estrada Medina, USN, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.  It will be our honor to do so.

Mr. Medina was born October 19, 1926 and passed away November 30, 2020.  He served in the United States Navy during WWII from November 10, 1944 to July 30, 1946 on the aircraft carrier, USS Shangrila (CV-38), also known as the Tokyo Express.  He received the WWII Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 battle stars.  He was a Seaman Second Class at the time of his honorable discharge.

Mr. Medina learned how to tailor while in the US Navy and used that skill during his entire life.  He was employed at Norton AFB for most of his working career.  He was very active in his church and loved gardening, creating masterful landscapes (including lighting and stonework).  He was a handyman in every sense of the word, fixing anything.  He was a very involved and interacting man within many peoples’ lives.

He is survived by a sister, Rita Galarde, 5 step-children; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. His wife, Gloria, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters preceded him in death.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero from the church to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

NOTE: Please observe the latest COVID-19 requirements. Face coverings are required.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
