The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Command Master Chief Joseph Felix Ciokon Jr. to accompany our Hero and family from their home in Poway to Miramar National Cemetery for Full Military Honors. It would be our Honor to do so.
Command Master Chief Joseph Ciokon served in the Navy from 1956-1986. In 1962 he trained under the Navy Seals in jungles of Panama. After he served in Vietnam during the "TET" offensive attack. Although he was not a Navy Seal, the training helped him come home from Vietnam. Joseph was awarded the Purple Heart in October 1983, as a result of injuries received in the Beirut Lebanon attack.
After retiring from 30 years in the Navy, Joe was a Judo 6th Degree Black Belt (Rojudan) Sensei and Self Defense Instructor PAO (Public Affairs Officer) for the 3rd Fleet from 1988-2003. He served on the Board of Directors for VVSD for 20 years. Public Affairs Officer for the Midway Museum from 2007 to present. Docent receiving an award for over 6,000 volunteer hours.
Joe was also a member of the Downtown Breakfast Rotary and the Poway Kiwanis, Scotish Rite, VFW and Sheriff's Senior Volunteer of Poway. He spent time doing Judo, Golf, and helping combat Vets with PTSD.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Mary Q. Ciokon, sister Judy Dressendofer and 3 (three) adult children: Joseph F. Ciokon, Ramon M. Ciokon and Lisa C. Ciokon.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family home to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
