Wayne Sirex, 78, USN - Quartz Hill/RNC - 18 May 2021

The family has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present and accompany their hero, Wayne Sirex, from Quartz Hill to Riverside National Cemetery. We are honored to do so.

Wayne Sirex served in the US Navy from 06/30/1960 until 09/20/1963, serving onboard a diesel submarine where he served as a mechanic. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged at the rank of E-3.

Wayne worked many jobs after his military service but his longest work history was working for a copy service delivering copies to many businesses. He loved riding his motorcycle where he proudly road as the Chaplin of the American Legion Riders, Chapter 311. He also rode as a Patriot Guard Rider and attended many funerals and escorts to honor his brothers and sisters that had passed. He was very active in his church and had a strong faith in God. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife Leslie, 5 children and 2 grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero from the church in Quartz Hill to his final resting place. Please see the timetable below if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

NOTE: Please observe the latest COVID-19. Face coverings are required.

You have to go out...but you do not have to come back..
I ride for my brother, Lino Torres USMC.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
