The family of Pvt. Ronald Newport has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service. It will be our privilege to do so.
Ron Newport, 77, served his country in the United States Army for 2 years (1965 to 1967). He was drafted and gladly went to serve his country.
Ron was an Orthopedic Medic and he was scheduled to go to Vietnam, however shortly before his oversees mission, his younger brother was killed in Vietnam. During his 2 years of honorable service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, and Sharp Shooter ribbon.
After his honorable discharge, Ron went on to serve nearly 45 years in the Fire Service, with the California Dept. of Forestry for Orange County. Ron retired a Fire Captain and was a True American Patriot! There will be Military Honors, as well as Fire Dept. Honors at the service, including a vintage 1964 Fire Engine leading just in front Hurst, to the Gazebo from Staging Area at Miramar that Ron used to ride in.
