The family of Richard Francis Sapien, 74, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor him for his military service. It is our honor to do so.

Richard proudly served in the USMC from 20 September 1965 to 19 September 1969, during the Vietnam War. He was a Sergeant at the time of his Honorable Discharge. During his service he earned the National Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with three combat stars, Good Conduct Ribbon and Medal, Fire Award, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and Rifle Marksman Badge.

Richard was born 22 December 1946 and passed away 01 May 2021. After his Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corp. Richard worked as an iron worker in construction for many years, then later for a local school district in the maintenance department until he retired.

Richard volunteered serving Veterans through his ALR Post and VFW Post. He enjoyed anything outdoors including but not limited to camping, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed watching sports, especially college football, action movies and documentaries. He also really enjoyed riding his Harley.

Richard is survived by: his wife Linda, children Brigette and Brian, brother Greg, 8 grandchildren/great grandchildren with one on the way.

Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
