The family of 1stSg Michael R. Marshall, age 68, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his military honors as he is laid to rest.  It will be our honor to do so.

1stSg Michael Marshall enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1974, he completed 7 tours of duty during the Gulf War and also served as a Drill Instructor for the Marines.  He also served in leadership with the Fleet Marines.  He was honorably discharged in 1998 after nearly 25 yrs of service at the rank of First Sergeant.  He was awarded a very long list of medals and awards, the most significant being the Navy Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Commendation Medal.

After his service in the military Michael became a police officer with L.A.P.D. where he worked for many years. He also began working as the Commandant of the Army Navy Academy in Carlsbad where he was an educator, motivator, and in some cases for his students and their family, motivating them all to greatness. Mr. Marshall rounded out his long career with becoming a federal police officer at Camp Pendleton where he was honored to receive promotions.

In short, Mr. Marshall just might be one of the most amazing men who walked this Earth, who spent his life in service of others especially in his Southern California community. His hobbies included cycling, health and fitness.

Survivors include his wife Tracie Steele Marshall, children Michael Eric Marshall, Sarah Michelle Marshall, and Miles Gabriel Steele Marshall , and 6 grandchildren.
