The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Julio Ortiz to Honor this American Hero it will be our privilege to do so.

Julio (pronounced Jew Lee Oh) was very proud of his American Heritage and always wanted his first name pronounced in the English version.

He was always proud to be an American and carried that all the way thru High School and into the United States Air Force where he excelled in electronics of just about any kind. He was always able to trouble shoot electrical problems without a whole lot of training.

Julio was in Korea for over a year using everything he had been taught about fighting the war .
Julio was in the Air Force from 1948 until his Honorable Discharge in 1952 at the rank of Staff Sgt.

Julio stayed busy even after his time in the Air Force by going to College and obtaining his B.A Degree in business Administration.

Along in his career he worked for Bendix, McDonald Douglas, North American Aviation, Unisys, and Toyota. Julio also did a stint working on the United States Space Program.

Once Julio retired he got into taking photographs of his family and trips that he and his wife took. He really liked the ones he took when they were traveling across country and then around the world to different countries.

Julio is survived by his wife of 68 yrs. Delia Ortiz, and his 5 children, Cindy, David, Sandra, Mindy and John.  Julio was called home to be by the side of his Son Richard Ortiz who preceded him in death. He is also survived by his 17 Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren.

Lets do our best to Honor this American Hero and the sacrifices both he and all of our brothers have fought for.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family home to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

"Standing for those who stood for us"

Only 2 defining forces offered to die for you:
Jesus Christ, and the American Soldier:
One died for your soul, the other one died for your freedom.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
