The family of Master Chief William Joseph Kleine has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Born in Chicago, IL, raised in Crown Pt. IN, MCPO Kleine enlisted in the US Navy in 1948 and attended recruit training in Farragut ID.
MCPO Kleine sacrificed much, spending several years of sea duty, away from his family and on many ships while honing his skills as an engine-man and rising to rank of Chief in 1961. In 1971 Chief Kleine was promoted to Senior Chief. In 1974 Senior Chief Kleine returned to one of his earlier successes of Company Commander for new recruits at NTC San Diego. He also trained some of the first female troops and was given many accolades when his troops won several awards.
In 1978 he was finally able to fulfill a lifetime dream his wife of 32 years had (they were married for 64 years total) of shore duty overseas. Having 7 dependents he was denied being sent overseas. Senior Chief Kleine, his wife Janet and last 2 dependent children who were high school age were sent to Scotland where he worked on the submarine dry dock, USS Los Alamos in Dunoon, Scotland. He enjoyed this time in his life immensely! He loved the work, he made many lifelong friends, traveled to several countries and met his Irish cousins. This tour lasted for two years. In 1978 Senior Chief Kleine was promoted to Master Chief. On July 01, 1980 Master Chief Kleine Honorably retired with 32 years of service which he served proudly. Master Chief Kleine Served in Korea and 3 tours of Vietnam.
After his military service William worked for VSC & NAVSEACENPAC. Both companies that inspected Navy ships.
MCPO Kleine was predeceased by his loving wife Janet Arlene. Siblings: He was the youngest and last surviving of six children. His father was 100% German, his mother was 100% Irish who emigrated from Ireland when she was 17. He had 2 elder sisters and 3 elder brothers Children: Krissann Lee Zoby, Karol Lee Holmes, Kurtis Leahy Kleine, Karynne Lenore Kleine-Gleason, Kellee Kleine, Kimberly Lorraine McCarthy, Kathy Lillian Roxas. 17 Grandchildren and 26 Great-Grandchildren with 1 on the way.
The family is requesting an accompaniment from the family home to Ft Rosecrans cemetery.

For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family home to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
