The family of Capt Jamie Dean Nicholson, 43, USMC(Ret) has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their Hero from the funeral home in Porterville, CA to San Diego where he will be accompanied the following day to his final resting place.  We are honored to do so.

Capt Jamie Nicholson enlisted in the US Marine Corps July 08, 1996 and served honorably until his retirement on December 31, 2021. He began his service as an enlisted man and worked his way up through the ranks to Captain.  He was quite a Hero, and an exemplary Marine who served in combat throughout the middle east including many deployments to the Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan.  He also served as a Drill Instructor at one time, shaping new recruits into tough Marines.  He was last assigned to MAG-49. He received too many medals, awards and citations to list including Presidential Unit citations. Let it be said he was one of "The Best of the Best".

In his off time Jamie loved many things, he was a musician and had quite a collection of guitars, amplifiers and equipment and could tell you the history and every detail of each.  He loved playing music for others and for his own enjoyment.  He also was very mechanically inclined and loved buying and collecting watches, motorcycles and loved woodworking. He especially loved riding his cherished BSA and Triumph motorcycles. He also loved traveling and traveled all over the world including Spain where he participated in the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona.  He also loved his family including his precious Boston Terriers Gunny and Baylee who he loved taking to the beach.

Jamie is survived by his beloved wife Elissa, his son Dylan, his parents Lillian and Larry Nicholson, many other family members, friends and of course his Band of Brothers, his fellow Marines.  He will be dearly missed by all and NEVER forgotten.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero and his family from Valencia to La Jolla approx 144 miles. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the hotel, we will meet you there.
